Project Director
Jeremiah Mwesigwa is the visionary behind ShareX Global Volunteer Exchange. A passionate humanitarian and social entrepreneur from Uganda, Jeremiah has spent over a decade working to empower youth, uplift vulnerable communities, and build sustainable social programs.

Our Impact Since 2018
Real numbers, real change
Our Story
ShareX was born from a simple observation: traditional volunteer programs often prioritized the volunteer experience over community needs, lacked transparency in costs and impact, and failed to create lasting relationships between volunteers and communities.
In 2018, founder Jeremiah Kiirya Mwesigwa, a Ugandan development professional, created a different model where volunteers also benefit. ShareX would be community-led from day one, with every project requested and owned by local communities. Volunteers would be partners, not only saviors but also benefit also.
We committed to radical transparency: publishing detailed budgets, impact reports, and volunteer feedback. We built a 24/7 safety network. We hired local mentors for every project to ensure authentic cultural exchange.
Today, ShareX has facilitated over 1,200 volunteer placements across 75 Ugandan communities. Our volunteers come from 45 countries and range from gap year students, travelers, digital nomads, adventurers, missionaries to retired professionals. What unites them is a desire to make a real difference while experiencing authentic cultural exchange and adventure.
But we measure our success not in volunteer numbers, but in community outcomes and positive feedback and reviews from our volunteers: schools built, literacy rates improved, health clinics established, and sustainable livelihoods created. Every project has clear goals and measurable results, published in our annual impact reports.
